Joe Bridges is an industry veteran of over 20 years. He studied advanced Mathematics including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus while in pursuit of a degree in Management. He began trading Gold and Silver in the early 80’s while living in North Carolina, later coming to Chicago in 1985 to work with the “Professional Services Division” of GNP Commodities. While at GNP Joe handled a variety of tasks, one of which was assisting in market analysis using a proprietary computer program called “Merlin”. During this time Joe worked with both Individuals and Introducing Brokers. Over the next several years in addition to providing market analysis Joe became an execution expert servicing large traders requiring specialized custom order execution.

During the early 1990’s Joe began intense study of price patterns and their effects on future prices. Disappointed with early results Joe began thinking outside the normal boundaries and began experimenting with exotic, nested, combinations of patterns. While the results were interesting, what Joe really learned how to do was manually create complex genetic algorithms that could be manually verified and studied. While completing the research Joe found many benefits could be found by following well researched automated volatility based trading systems using a portfolio approach.

Joe’s trading is based on a proprietary algorithm that he has developed after lengthy study and analysis of the markets. The system seeks to take advantage of the cyclical volatility created by the flow of funds from sector to sector. When volatility is low the system will shut down and not trade until sufficient volatility returns. One of the keys to the system is that it tries to avoid the “whipsaw” type of activity that occurs during low volatility periods and will naturally become active in the sector(s) with more favorable conditions. The program is trading the following markets: Soybeans, Soybean Oil, Corn, Wheat, Live Cattle, Live Hogs, Metals, Gold and Crude Oil.
